Roundup: Modern outdoor dining chairs

Roundup: Modern outdoor dining chairs

You guys! I can't stop myself. I just went down a major rabbit hole looking at outdoor furniture.  What prompted this? Well we visited the backyard at our new Atlanta house and I have to say the spring weather and beginnings of the pool renovation got me thinking. I love the patio furniture that we've had for the past few years and it's worked so well at our various other more traditional homes. I even got new cushion covers made for the set last summer.  And while the size and shape are right, I just don't think they will work... Read more

Get the Look: Vibrant Cozy Ski Home

Hey, Kate Cabiltes here! This space is one of the favorite I have posted about ever. Principal designer Chloe of Cali-based firm Redmond Aldrich Design schemed the décor of such a dreamy ski home. Anchored in traditional mid-century modern pieces, there are splashes of modern art and textiles that give it such personality. I’m loving all the shades of green and that modern pink and green artwork is now my artwork collection goals. Here’s how to get the look in your home… Claremont Triple Bulb Pendant via Serena & Lily Playful Limited Edition Art via Minted Icelandic Sheepskin Throw via Design Within Reach... Read more

Get the Look: John Derian's Living Room

Hi hi, it’s Kate Cabiltes! If you have an appreciation for the work of artist and shopkeeper John Derian, the majesty of his NYC home will come as no surprise to you. When I stumbled across his living room it was exactly what I would expect from him - and I mean that in the most complementary way. Filled with beauty, the space is literally a treasure trove of furniture and décor finds – from an upholstered ottoman that looks like it was scored at a remote bazaar oversees to a hanging light fixture that surely has been passed down from... Kitchen Design: The Buckhead Mid-century Modern

Kitchen Design: The Buckhead Mid-century Modern

Hi Everyone!  Jess Davis here. I'm really trying to blog more these days. It's challenging though. As an interior designer and visual person I find short form media to be so much easier! I've been promising you a more comprehensive summary of our kitchen renovation though.  So here goes. The kitchen in our new house started off looking like this in plan - sorry for the blurriness - I only have this low res file - but you get the idea. The actual size of the kitchen was not all that bad but as you can see, the layout was choppy,... Read more

Get the Look - Sunny Modern Living Room

Hi, Kate Cabiltes here! I am admittedly a huge fan of Mandy Moore's style be it with her wardrobe or her home. While my favorite room in her updated Pasadena home is her master bedroom (previously featured here on Nest Studio!) I am truly admiring her living room designed by the talented Sarah Sherman Samuel. This sunny space screams LA - it is modern with a splash of mid century and boasts lots of artistic elements layered over a neutral backdrop not to mention lots of sunlight flooding through. Can we also talk about how her rug is angled? What a... Read more

Pink and Neutral Eclectic Master Bedroom

Pink and Neutral Eclectic Master Bedroom

Happy New Year! Kate Cabiltes here. Everything about this eclectic open-air space is my 2019 bedroom goals! Spotted on Rue Daily, designer and founder of Salt & Bones Carissa incorporated touches of pink in with a neutral color palette with the hills of Northern California (100 miles south of San Francisco to be exact) as a picture perfect backdrop. Aside from the rolling hills that buckled leather headboard is the show stopper in my humble opinion and while I was unable to source an exact replica the universally loved Rhys Bed is an impressive alternative. Here’s how to get the... Read more

Get The. Look: Bright Artistic Nursery

Hey all, Kate Cabiltes here! For those of you who haven't cracked open your latest issue of Domino magazine yet, do it! And go straight to the piece on the nursery of Refinery29 editor and future mama Christene Barberich. Her sense of style is one to appreciate - her space is decked out in inspiring patterns, intriguing artwork and adorable pillows.  And while the nursery is certainly adorable, it strikes me that this style could be incorporated into other types of spaces as none of the décor or pieces read as too “babyish”. Here’s how to get the look in... Read more

Get the Look: Magical Patterned Kids Room

Hi all, it’s Kate Cabiltes! Kids bedrooms are always so fun to decorate and admire! As of late this magical spot is one of my favorites in the kid’s category though I could see a lot of these details transitioning way past the early years. Rooted in tans and creams, the pink and blue accepts are dispersed throughout Charlotte’s haven in the form of numerous patterns and materials. The way the patterns play off each other like the wallpaper does with the rug is noticeable and impressive. Here’s how to get the look in your kids bedroom… Charlotte Semi-Flushmount via Anthropologie... Read more

New Years Resolutions

New Years Resolutions

Every year I write a blog post about new years resolutions. I find that it helps to look back and see what I have accomplished. Interestingly, I didn't do one for 2018 even though I feel like it was an eventful and productive year.  So I figured it was time to make some goals.  For 2019 I have a few - not too many but a few. - Do more cooking and meal planning. I'm hoping that the addition of an instapot to my meal repertoire will help in this regard. I may also need to create some sort of... Read more
