Why does your hardware cost so much more than what I find at Home Depot and Anthropologie?

Each piece is machined and polished by hand. Because we are a boutique manufacturer, we produce limited runs of all of our items and inspect each piece for the ultimate quality control. The artisanal details and labor involved in producing our items dictates the price point.

Why are there small differences from one piece to another?

Each item in our collection is machined by hand and then hand polished. This level of personal craftsmanship can result in minor variations from piece to piece. The beauty of our collections is in their individuality.

How do I best install my hardware?

We recommend that you install your hardware by first determining the number of holes needed. Then drill a pilot hole or holes at the appropriate distance with a 1/8" drill bit. To avoid chipping the surface of your cabinet, put some painters tape over the place where you intend to drill the hole. This can be removed once the hole has been drilled. Please make sure to install your hardware by hand with a screw driver. Power drills make it easy to strip screws, break mounting posts and damage the hardware. We also recommend that if your cabinet or drawer face is thinner than average, you use lock washers on the inside face of your cabinet between the wood and the screw head to make sure the hardware mounts tightly. If you have trouble with mounting or need different screws (break-away screws etc.), please contact us. For additional inquiries about installation, please email info@neststudiocollection.com.

How do I take care of my hardware?

The best way to keep your hardware looking great is to use a damp microfiber cloth. All other chemical cleaners such as Windex or Brass-o can strip your hardware of its finish or lacquer.

Stitch Series use and care instructions.

Our Stitch series is wrapped in vegetable tanned leather sourced from tanneries located in the United States and Italy. The brown leather comes finished but, depending on the hide, our natural leather may start off with very light coloration and will tan over time. To more quickly darken the patina of the natural leather, the hardware may be placed outdoors in direct sunlight or a light coating of Neatfoot Oil can be applied to the leather.

The best way to keep your hardware looking great is to use a damp microfiber cloth. All other chemical cleaners such as Windex or Brass-o can strip your hardware of its finish or lacquer. You can use saddle soap / leather conditioner on our leather products to keep these natural materials soft and pliable.

Lauhala Series use and care instructions.

The Lauhala series utilizes the native Hawaiian “lauhala” or screwpine leaf to wrap the pulls, lending a softness and organic feel that adds the perfect natural element to interiors and furniture. In Hawaii the leaf is commonly used for floor mats and baskets of all shapes and sizes for carrying fruit, picking coffee, regular everyday storage and sails of large double hulled canoes. It is known for its strength and durability.

Each item in the Lauhala series is hand-woven by Hawaii-based jewelry brand Kū +Moe. The leaf is woven using mineral oil and water to keep it pliable. At the ends the weave is reversed and woven into itself and secured without any kind of adhesive.

Given the natural material, the weaving will wear down over time depending on the kind of use. To keep the hardware looking its best we recommend:

• Oiling it with mineral oil keeps it soft and pliable.
• Cleaning should consist of mild soap and water.
• Do not use any kind of acidic base.

    Do you warranty your products?

Nest Studio warrants that its products will be free from defects in workmanship and materials for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Nest Studio will repair or replace the defective product, at our discretion, with an identical, or equivalent model. This warranty does not cover the following:

    1. Failure due to incorrect installation, failure to follow mounting instructions or use of a product in a manner for which it was not intended.
    2. Metal deterioration caused by exposure to atmospheric conditions beyond Nest Studio’s control.
    3. Reasonable wear and tear.

Please note that some of our hardware has a living finish and as such, will patina over time, enhancing each piece with the beautiful and unique character reflective of hand finishing. It is for this reason that finishes are not covered by our warranty.
