Melanie's Six Picks

Melanie's Six Picks

Some of you may have read our new blog post series, Six Picks, that featured Nest Studio’s owner, Jess Davis. Well this week we’re back with another one, and today it’s all about our lovely Melanie Vega! Melanie is the force behind our sales efforts - managing all of our showrooms and design trade outreach and orders.   1) Travel destination: The Italian Coast - more specifically Sardinia. I have never been but it is a goal of mine to make it over there one day. It combines everything I love and imagine to be true about Italy and its... Read more

My husband and I went here for our tenth anniversary five years ago (ack! that means we have been married now for 15 years!). It was such a fun trip. I would love to bring the kids back... Read more

RoundUp: Folded Furniture

RoundUp: Folded Furniture

This week we're back with another roundup! And today it consists of folded furniture!   Two weeks ago we did a round up of tubular furniture which seems to be enjoying some popularity of late.  Something else we have noticed returning from the 70's and 80's is furniture modeled after folded forms. Have you picked up on this lately? It's a great way to add something sculptural but also comfortable to your space. Here is our roundup of some of our favorite folded pieces. Horizontally from left to right: :: Fold Chair x Busk + Hertzog for SOFTLINE via Danish Design... Read more

Get the Look: Palihotel Westwood Village

Get the Look: Palihotel Westwood Village

Hi, it’s Kate Cabiltes!   As far as I’m concerned, Palihotel properties can do no wrong and their newest location in Westwood Village, Los Angeles is no exception. With good bones in the form of rich grey walls, impeccable herringbone wooden floors and intricate crown moldings, the décor also doesn’t disappoint. The mid-century modern pieces contrast well with the more classic almost Parisian looking canvas of the space. My favorite piece in the entire hotel is the Pierre Paulin Sofa – a bold beaut!     Here's how to get the look in your home...     Vega Indoor-Outdoor Brass... Read more

Roundup: Kitchen Sinks

Roundup: Kitchen Sinks

Taryn here, with another roundup! Is there anything more necessary in a kitchen than a big, deep, unobtrusive sink? I think not. At my new Boston pad, I have the most glorious single basin, deeper than deep, undermount, stainless steel sink. It’s fantastic and I do not know how I’ve lived my whole life with dinky little sinks. Never Again! If you have the space, go as wide as you can like with the 44” Kohler down there. The image I’m showing of it with the optional wood cutting boards in place illustrates a new way to think of the... Read more

Trending: Minimalist Organization

Hi all, it’s Kate Cabiltes!   A pack rat by nature, I find myself in awe of minimalist design and Marie Kondo decluttering methods. While minimalism is truly a lifestyle that must be committed to, I think that a good way for those minimalist-challenged types to start is selecting simple but well-designed pieces to organize spots in your home. I’ve rounded up some modern thoughtfully crafted favorites to experiment with, all of which are as pretty as they are useful. Here is a roundup of some favorite minimalist pieces to organize your home…   Constellation Mirror via Formae Collection Element Hanging... Read more

Roundup: Tubular Furniture

Roundup: Tubular Furniture

Is it just me or have you been noticing a lot of tubular furniture lately - whether it's something that has a tubular metal frame or something that is upholstered sort of like a pool noodle, or even channel tufting - I am seeing cylindrical shapes everywhere. This week's roundup features some of my favorite tubular seating furniture that will add a bit of funk, flare, and retro vibes to that room you've been having difficulty with by making it pop! With round edges, clean lines, and simple designs, these pieces are sure to make a statement. A couple of these pieces may... Read more

Get the Look: Cheerful Kid's Bedroom

Hey, hey Kate Cabiltes here! Kids bedrooms are so fun to design and source – the possibilities are endless! I am enamored by this cheerful kid’s bedroom by Brooklyn-based husband and wife design duo Chango & Co. The yellow velvet canopy bed takes the stage and the bright spotted wallpaper is the perfect backdrop. Soft elements like the fur bench and the fluffy hanging pendant tone down the attention commanding elements. What a dreamy whimsical spot to sleep and play… Here’s how to get the look in your kid’s bedroom… Eos White Pendant by Lumens Abstract Wallpaper via Anthropologie Full Upholstered Yellow... Roundup: Planters

Roundup: Planters

A new roundup from Taryn! I’m finally living in a place with gorgeous big south-facing (cathedral) windows. That means that this gal who always assumed she had a black thumb is finally making her mom proud and raising a bunch of new plant babies. Finding gorgeous planters that fit my minimal yet eclectic aesthetic was a big deal for me. I’m not one to typically like the kind with holes in the bottom (except now that I’ve found the dipped clay pot and stand below from Anthro!) But I’m finding that if you plant them correctly OR you keep the... Read more
